Beijing, China | Bvlgari Hotel Beijing
Italian Restraint on the Liangma River
Bvlgari Hotel Beijing sits in the capital’s Embassy District within the Genesis Beijing complex, where the Liangma River, landscaped gardens and contemporary art create a calmer setting than Beijing’s denser commercial districts. Sanlitun is close by, but the hotel itself feels deliberately removed from the city’s busiest streets.
With 119 rooms and suites, the property is intimate by Beijing standards. That scale, combined with large guestrooms, extensive butler service and a substantial spa, gives the hotel the feel of an urban resort rather than a conventional business hotel.
The location is especially well suited to travelers who want contemporary Beijing within reach but do not need to stay directly beside the Forbidden City. The Embassy District, Sanlitun and the 798 Art District are convenient, while historic sights remain straightforward by car.
China’s First Bvlgari Hotel Opened in 2017
Bvlgari Hotel Beijing opened on September 27, 2017 as the fourth property in the Bvlgari Hotels & Resorts collection and the brand’s first hotel in China. The project followed Bvlgari hotels in Milan, Bali and London.
The hotel was developed as part of Genesis Beijing, a mixed-use project conceived around the relationship between art, nature and urban life. The neighboring Genesis Art Gallery was designed by Tadao Ando, giving the hotel an unusual cultural context within the broader development.
From the beginning, the Beijing hotel was positioned as an urban resort. That idea remains visible today in the landscaped riverside gardens, the large spa and pool, and the way public spaces open toward greenery rather than toward the surrounding roads.
ACPV Brings Milanese Discipline to Beijing
ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel was responsible for the hotel’s architecture and interiors, extending the design language first established at Bvlgari Hotel Milano. The exterior uses pale stone and bronze-framed windows, while interiors rely on black granite, white Navona travertine, dark timber, polished metals and custom Italian furniture.
Rooms and suites include Dolce Vita-era photography from the Bvlgari collection alongside contemporary Italian pieces. The result is more residential than theatrical, with strong materials doing most of the visual work.
Outside, Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea designed the hotel’s gardens to connect with the Liangma River. Mature trees, including transplanted old pines, were incorporated early so that the landscape would feel established rather than newly planted when the hotel opened.
That relationship between architecture and garden is one of the property’s strongest distinctions. The building is modern and controlled, but the riverfront setting softens it, particularly from the restaurant, bar and higher-floor rooms.
From Superior Rooms to the Bvlgari Suite
The accommodation collection progresses from generously proportioned rooms to residential suites and the signature Bvlgari Suite. Sizes below are approximate, with configurations varying within certain categories.
Superior Room: Approximately 624 sq. ft., the entry category offers either a king bed or two queen beds, Italian furnishings and a spacious bathroom with a black-granite bathtub and separate shower.
Deluxe Room: Approximately 646 sq. ft., this light-filled room features a king bed or two queen beds, a walk-in closet and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Premium Room: Approximately 592–667 sq. ft., these king-bedded rooms overlook the Liangma River and Beijing skyline, making the outlook a principal distinction from the lower categories.
Junior Suite: Approximately 764 sq. ft., this king-bedded junior suite combines a spacious seating area with an elm-wood alcove and connecting-room options, subject to availability.
Superior Suite: Approximately 893–1,098 sq. ft., this one-bedroom suite offers a separate living room, a generous walk-in closet and a bathroom finished in white Navona travertine.
Deluxe Suite: Approximately 1,098–1,302 sq. ft., this one-bedroom suite features a separate living room, a walk-in closet and views of the Liangma River and Beijing skyline.
Premium Suite: Approximately 1,830 or 2,303 sq. ft., depending on the suite, this spacious one-bedroom accommodation features a super king bed, floor-to-ceiling river and skyline views, and a substantial bathroom with a black-granite bathtub.
Terrace Suite: Approximately 2,099 sq. ft., this one-bedroom suite combines a spacious living room with a private outdoor terrace, creating an appealing setting for private dining and time outside in suitable weather.
Bvlgari Suite: Approximately 4,090 sq. ft., the hotel’s signature one-bedroom suite includes a large living room, a separate dining room, a private spa treatment room and sauna, with sweeping views across the Liangma River, gardens and Beijing skyline.
Because several categories differ as much by outlook and layout as by size, the most important booking considerations are the view, bed configuration, connecting options and whether the stay would benefit from a separate living room.
Italian Cooking and Aperitivo Shape the Dining Program
The dining program is intentionally compact, with one destination restaurant, a prominent bar, a lounge and a pastry boutique rather than a large collection of competing venues.
Il Ristorante – Niko Romito: The hotel’s signature Italian restaurant serves contemporary Italian cuisine developed by Niko Romito, with park views and a dining room furnished with custom Barovier & Toso lighting; it currently holds One MICHELIN Star.
The Bvlgari Bar: An oval-bar setting for cocktails, wine, Champagne and aperitivo, with an outdoor terrace overlooking the riverside gardens.
Lobby Lounge: A relaxed daytime and early-evening setting for tea, coffee and lighter refreshments within the hotel’s main public spaces.
Bvlgari Dolci: The hotel’s pastry and confectionery boutique offers cakes, chocolates and other Bvlgari-branded sweets for takeaway or gifting.
In-Room Dining: Available around the clock, with breakfast and other dishes served privately in rooms and suites.
Il Ristorante – Niko Romito is the venue most likely to require advance planning, particularly for dinner and weekend dining, while The Bvlgari Bar is better suited to a spontaneous aperitivo or late drink.
A Two-Level Spa Built Around Bathing and Movement
The Bvlgari Spa occupies two floors and is one of the hotel’s defining facilities. It includes 11 treatment rooms, relaxation lounges, steam and sauna facilities, a refreshment bar and a 25-metre indoor heated pool inspired by the ancient Baths of Caracalla.
Treatments combine Bvlgari’s international spa program with selected Chinese techniques, while the fitness offering includes Technogym and Kinesis equipment, personal training, Pilates and the Bvlgari Gymnasivm program.
The gym is open around the clock for hotel guests, while the pool and changing facilities operate on a daily schedule. This makes the spa especially useful for business travelers or guests returning from sightseeing at irregular hours.
Use the Embassy District as a Base, Not a Boundary
The immediate neighborhood provides more than convenience. The Liangma River paths and landscaped public areas make walking or cycling practical, and the hotel offers MomoDesign bicycles and jogging maps for guests who want to explore nearby streets without a car.
Sanlitun’s shops, restaurants and galleries are close, while the 798 Art District is generally less than 20 minutes away by car in light traffic. The Lama Temple and other central-city attractions can also be reached comfortably by hotel limousine or taxi.
Longer excursions require more planning. The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and Great Wall are not neighborhood attractions, so departure time matters, especially during peak domestic travel periods.
The hotel also offers cultural programming such as tea ceremonies and tai chi at selected times. These experiences vary by schedule and should be confirmed for the specific stay.
Family Planning Is More About Room Choice Than a Permanent Kids Club
Bvlgari Hotel Beijing welcomes families, and selected rooms and suites can accommodate extra beds or connecting arrangements. Superior and Deluxe Rooms include king or two-queen configurations, while Junior Suites can connect to additional rooms.
The hotel has also offered B.Family Staycation packages with children’s amenities and Little Gems Club activities. Because that programming appears as part of specific seasonal or promotional offers rather than a permanent daily facility, families should confirm what children’s activities are operating during their dates.
The indoor pool is an easy family amenity, but the hotel’s overall atmosphere remains adult-oriented and design-led. Families with younger children will generally benefit most from confirming connecting rooms, rollaway policies and in-room dining arrangements before arrival.
The Sustainability Story Is Specific and Building-Based
Bvlgari Hotel Beijing publishes a number of concrete environmental measures. The building uses thermal insulation, rainwater harvesting, LED lighting and computer-controlled systems that switch off lights and adjust curtains when guestrooms are unoccupied.
The landscape is part of that strategy. Enzo Enea selected mature trees for the property before opening, including old pines transplanted from Shandong, allowing them time to adapt to Beijing’s climate and soil.
Guest-facing initiatives include complimentary bicycles, jogging routes and outdoor yoga in warmer months. The hotel also supports Holt International Foundation of China through community outreach and assistance for vulnerable children.
These initiatives are specific and verifiable, but they should not be stretched into broader claims such as carbon neutrality or zero waste, which the hotel does not currently publish.
Accessibility Details Are Limited on the Public Site
Bvlgari Hotel Beijing does not currently publish a detailed public accessibility guide identifying adapted room categories, roll-in showers, hearing-assistance features or step-free routes throughout the property.
That does not mean accessible arrangements are unavailable, but it does mean travelers with specific mobility, hearing or vision requirements should confirm the exact room, bathroom configuration, elevator access and route to restaurants, spa and pool before booking.
The hotel’s modern construction and elevator-served layout may simplify some movement compared with older heritage hotels, but no universal accessibility claim should be made without direct confirmation.
Beijing’s Best Seasons Are Brief but Distinct
Beijing has four pronounced seasons. Spring is generally dry and windy, summer is hot and humid with much of the annual rainfall concentrated in July and August, autumn is clear and comparatively mild, and winter is cold and dry.
September and October are among the most comfortable months for walking and sightseeing, while May is another strong period before summer heat builds. National holiday periods can create heavier domestic travel demand, so dates matter as much as weather.
Winter can be appealing for travelers who prioritize museums, dining and quieter city sightseeing, but temperatures can fall well below freezing. Summer remains workable because the hotel has strong indoor facilities, although heat and thunderstorms can affect full-day touring.

Beijing Capital Airport Is the Closest Major Gateway
Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK): The hotel quotes approximately 30 minutes by car in normal traffic, though peak-hour congestion can extend the journey significantly.
Hotel Limousine: Private hotel transfers can be reserved in advance and are the most straightforward option for international arrivals with luggage or tight schedules.
Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX): Daxing is much farther south of the city; travelers should allow substantially more time than from Capital Airport and confirm the current transfer estimate when booking.
Sanlitun: The shopping, dining and nightlife district is close to the hotel and generally reached in a short car ride or, depending on the destination, by walking or bicycle.
798 Art District: The hotel places this contemporary art district at under 20 minutes by car in light traffic.
Historic Beijing: The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace require longer cross-city transfers, while Great Wall excursions should be planned as half- or full-day outings.
A Contemporary Counterpoint to Historic Beijing
Bvlgari Hotel Beijing is most persuasive when it is used as a contrast to the city outside. Beijing’s imperial architecture, hutongs and vast historic sites can dominate the day, while the hotel returns the experience to clean lines, river views, Italian design and a quieter pace.
For travelers who want a modern base with strong dining and wellness rather than a hotel built around historical atmosphere, the Embassy District location works particularly well. The property feels connected to Beijing without trying to imitate it.
